The theme for the Willians Hill Reservoir mural is based on water, but more specifically the actual function and purpose of the water tank and the mission of Riverina Water County Council to provide the Community with safe reliable water.
Poncho Army felt the best way to represent this mission was by painting local children drinking right from the water tap, using their hands as water cups. The children in the mural reinforces that the Riverina Water is safe water - no filters or aquatabs required, unlike people in other parts of the world.
Drinking straight from the tap has as sense of nostalgia for adults. They need water to survive, not glasses, cups or plastic bottles. The children’s hands represent community and working together.
The mural was painted over 2.5 weeks by artist Poncho Army using Montana Black spray paint. This project was a partnership between Riverina Water County Council and Wagga Wagga City Council.
